With this pattern, you’ll make the baby’s first soft elephant. This is a perfect toy for hours of imaginative play or the finishing touch to a nursery bookshelf. I believe, there’s something magical about handmade toys that can stay with children as they grow up — first as soft nursery decor, then as a companion for storytelling and quality play, and eventually, as a memorable treasure that they could even keep for the next generation.

PDF file Includes:

  1. Step-by-step photo tutorial instructions (Detailed, easy to follow, step by step, well-illustrated sewing steps)
  2. Template sheets (The pattern is set to print on Letter size paper). Just download, print & cut out the pattern.
  3. A list of supplies required

Materials

I prefer to use sandwashed cotton for the elephant toy. This type of fabric is very soft and reminds me of the texture of the actual elephant skin. But you can also choose regular cotton for this purpose.

Great pattern

I was really impressed by this pattern. The construction method was unusual to me; you trace round the shapes onto rectangles of fabric and then sew the lines, rather than cutting out pattern pieces. But this worked so well and the finished product is adorable!
