If you love patchwork, this turtle toy is a "must-do” project. With your fabric scraps, you can sew a beautiful turtle that can be used as a baby toy, pouch, or pin cushion. The e-book includes 3 tutorials:

 1. The way how to sew a turtle toy with 7 segments (shell diameter: 3,75”)

2. How to sew a tiny turtle with 4 segments (shell diameter: 2”)

3. How to make a turtle zipper pouch  (shell diameter: 3,75”)

I prepared the most detailed photo tutorial showing every single step along the process. This will be very helpful for beginners. However, if you are the experience sewer, such a complete tutorial could be needless. So for those who have some toy making experience, I suggest going briefly page by page rather than step by step.

Happy Sewing!

PDF file Includes:

  1. Step-by-step photo tutorial instructions (Detailed, easy to follow, step by step, well-illustrated sewing steps)
  2. Template sheets (The pattern is set to print on Letter size paper). Just download, print & cut out the pattern!
  3. A list of supplies required.

Materials

Main fabric for turtle – small fabric scraps

It could be pieces from different leftovers. I used cotton pieces. However, the materials could be absolutely different (you can combine cotton, canvas, tweed, linen, rayon and viscose).

Fabric for the bottom, legs, head and tail –

< 0.2 meter cut (cotton; canvas, sandwashed cotton, linen also could work)

You need even less than 0.2 but this cut size is usually the smallest cut you can get in fabric stores.

Fabric for lining if you make a pouch (It’s better if it matches in color with the bottom fabric – 0.2 meter cut (cotton; rayon and viscose also work)

You need even less than 0.2 but this cut size is usually the smallest cut you can get in fabric stores.

It's a great product‼︎

It was very easy to make and attractive.
While translating English into Japanese, I had a lot of fun working on it.From now on, if possible, I would appreciate it if you could make stuffed animals such as cats and dogs.

patrón perfecto

Patrón muy fácil de ensamblar y queda perfecto cosa difícil con tanta pieza en el caparazón de la tortuga. Mis hijos están encantados con sus nuevos muñecos.

Such an awesome pattern!

Loved this pattern so much easy to follow and cute results! Would like maybe a few tips on how to make sure the seems don't pucker.

Rebecca, thank you very much for asking some tips to keep seams from puckering.
So if you are talking about the round seam (curved seam) I would suggest to clip little triangles out of the seam allowance. You can do this with small scissors, cutting right up to the stitching line, but not through it. The more clips you make, the flatter your seam will lay. (However, there is no need to do this if you use pinking shears). Once the unit is turned right side out, carefully smooth the curved seam with a chopstick.
As for the ladder seam or other stitches, I would recommend to reduce the tension while you stitch as pulling the thread too tight could gather up the seam. Just more practicing and you can hit the ideal :)
